Wednesday

Softball Season

Softball season is starting super soon. Jenny and I are cocoaching spectacular. We cut all of the horribly sucky players and the ones that smelled like tomatoes and those with even number jerseys--making the team 13 sucky, not tomato smelling, odd number jerseyed players. Okay, interest might not have been what it was last year before our 0-5 season. I'm sure this Spring's team will live up to the glory of Fall, nuggets.

Knitting can suck my bendy straw: I finished a scarf. I was going to give it to someone, but Josh swooped in and claimed it. We were coming home from work the other day and this chicken was crossing the road...(well, she crosses the road every day. We named her Doris.) anyway, so Doris was crossing the road, and we almost car killed her, but then she flew into a tree. Yeah, that's where this story was going. Doris is probably a rooster. So, I'm trying to keep up with knitting...okay, not really. I'm not really trying at all.

We fail at house buying. Okay, we've only been seriously looking for 2 weeks, but we sorta suck at it. Whatever, it's probably the houses that suck at being bought...because houses do that.

Sunday

hair issues

I'm so almost 30. I have like a year and half left, and if I was ever going to have blue hair, now is like the time. Tick Effing Tock.

So, I decided to find a girlfriend who has a ton of money and lives in San Francisco and can take me to get my hair cut at some way too expensive place into choppy layers and get dark blue hair extensions.

I'd get a tattoo--it'd be easier, but I have no idea what to tattoo--nothing is possibly that important to me.

I think I'm just really bored.

Monday

MANNING UP

Josh says I need to man up.

I made a hat... it is UGLY and am working on a basic boring scarf because I don't want to do anything that requires thinking.

UPDATE: Adam took the hat and loves it and wears it proudly--brave soul!

Sunday

Pies

I made a pumpkin, plum and pecan pie today. That's 3 separate pies, not 1 pie with all 3. Whatever, it's foods that start with P pie day.

Thursday

African Violet

I really miss my grandma. My grandma used to have an African Violet on the window of the kitchen. It always had pretty flowers. When I moved into our new little house, I bought an African Violet and put it on my kitchen window. I talk to it when I do the dishes. It never responds. My African Violet doesn't flower. I've tried everything I can think of and the leaves look great, but no flowers. I wish Grandma was alive, I'd ask her about my African Violet... oh and her meatloaf.

Wednesday

I think I have to make this...

You know, for the Zombie Eventuality!

Josh found this picture. I know he'll be standing behind me and ducking when the zombies come.

Tuesday

SONIC DEATH MONKEY, ALMOST!

Well, the Sonic Death Monkey softball season has come to a close.
We came in 5th place and gave those nonnerd teams a run for their balls.
Some of the most noteworthy highlights were:
Terra's totally hardcore bruise from getting hit by Carl's 3rd base line ball.
Sal's dive and catch in short field...followed by 12 more dives without catches.
Jared's strike out and subsequent self-beating.
Adam's slide into second in jeans.
Joshie supporting us every game with pompoms and a little skirt (okay, that one didn't exactly happen, but he was our most loyal fan!).
Nicki getting hit in the face.
Me tagging someone out without the ball in my glove.
And, as a team, going 0-5 and losing our 3rd game by something like 28.
We were generally amazing. Let's all cheer... SONIC DEATH MONKEY, ALMOST! I plan to play my heart out at second base next season.

Sunday

Orange Clutch

I'm trying to finish almost finished projects that have been almost finished for days.

I finished the orange clutch bag... now I have to finish my table runner, blanket and sweater.

Monday

Skirt

I'm finishing gloves and making a knitted skirt. I wish I was working on a sweater vest. My next project is so going to be a sweater vest.

The skirt is pictured below:We totally won our last Sonic Death Monkey softball game 28 to 3. I made two double plays and a home run and was generally amazing. Okay, none of that's true. We kinda lost... by um... well 28 to 3. We're totally gonna win next time though: Tuesday @ 6:00pm, Howarth Park!

Seed was great!

Friday

Knitting

I have like 9 projects going right now. I think I can't talk about any of them because I have so many. Josh's birthday is Tuesday. He turns 27, but I'm pretty sure he thinks he turns like 25. Every year, he's like, "I'm 25, right?" and I'm like, "No, you silly pumpkin-head." We're going to Seed on Wednesday with his mom and brother.

Saturday

SDM Game

We totally almost didn't lose!

It was epic. We were up by like over 9000 at the end of the top of the 6th, but then the other team came back to score 9005, and we lost.

We had lots of fun and played great! I was outtastic playing 2nd base.

Next game:

8:40pm At Howarth Park.

I'm waiting on more yarn to finish the sleeves of the ugly impulse sweater. I think it might turn out okay. I've also been knitting gloves with scrap yarn for holiday gifts--like anyone wants kimknitted gloves, but eff them... if you're lucky enough to get my wonketty knitted gloves, you should love them with your heart hole.

Sunday

Softball Game

Sonic Death Monkey Softball!

Our first softball game is Tuesday, September 9th at 8:40pm at Howarth Park.

Dig Jazz and come to my softball game.

Wednesday

Sweater

So, Josh, David, my mom and I went to San Francisco this weekend. We went to Artfibers and I got some super bulky yarn (Udon: wool).

I thought I might make like a scarf or hat or something quick with it, but each attempt just made the yarn look ugly and heavy. So, I did some research and found a bulky sweater pattern.

It's done in reverse stockinette stitch and will have buttons on the front. I'm using size 19 circs---huge!

I'm a little nervous because the pattern calls for 240 yards of a super bulky and I have about 220 yards of the Udon. I might shorten the sleeves a little or just keep my fingers crossed.

The funky holes you see on the sides are increases. When I steam it, they'll even out and not be noticeable. Yeah, this is totally before any blocking or shaping at all, so it looks a little messy. Also, the lack of buttons makes it look weird. I'm thinking of white buttons--something to lighten it a little... huge white buttons, like 1 3/4 inch.

Monday

Softball, my ass

So, I got hit in the arm by a not so soft softball--because I'm way too uncoordinated to be playing a sport. It hurt, and I'm pretty sure they should not make me play second base and give me bat girl.

Saturday

BOOM Sonic Death Monkey

OMG, I finished something. The yellow tank top is done--edging and all. It doesn't look that bad either. I wore it to work on Friday. Lots of people said it was pretty, but that might be because they know I can kill them with my pinky finger.

I'll post a picture and change my most recently finished projects link tonight after softball practice. Speaking of, I need lots of help... I'm a bad softball player. I'm kinda hoping to get the batgirl position.

Our team is called "Sonic Death Monkey" for all sorts of amazingly geeky reasons (see link below).

High Fidelity

We're sponsored by Sonic.net (www.sonic.net -- yeah I know like anyone reads this not from Sonic.net anyway, but there).

Last practice, Clay took some pictures of our amazing fail. I'm thinking about getting a few of those for blog sharing. SHARING.

Oh yeah and omfg, sonic BOOM. I guess there's an air show or something and things keep going BOOM and it's really distracting my blog typing ability--oh I mean working, working ability.
